Galaxy FBO Fuels Veteran’s Day Phillips 66 Aviation Event Flyover

The Phillips 66 Veterans Network today partnered with The Lone Star Veterans Association to host an event in celebration of Veterans Day 2015. Phillips 66 Aviation donated avgas fuel to propel The Lone Star Freedom Flight Team in a flyover honoring our Veterans of five Van’s RV-8s. The team fueled their aircraft at Phillips 66 Aviation branded Galaxy FBO, servicing the Lone Star Executive Airport (KCXO), located near Lake Conroe, Texas.

“Support of the military is engrained in the culture at Phillips 66, and aligns with our company values of safety, honor and commitment,” said General Manager, General Aviation, Greg Hart. “Phillips 66 Aviation is happy to do our part to celebrate the sacrifices made by the veteran men and women employed at our organization and throughout the local community.”

The Phillips 66 Veterans Network advocates for veteran issues internally and externally, and spearheads events to enhance local veterans in the community. Last year, 25 percent of hourly workforce hires in the U.S. Refining business were veterans, and the network continues to hire transitioning military personnel for many other roles throughout the organization.

The morning event included the presentation of colors by the Katy Independent School District Color Guard, singing of the Star Spangled Banner by Phillips 66-employee Marilyn Peacock, and guest speaker Dirk Macfarlane, a Phillips-66 employee and former commander of Navy SEAL Team FIVE, special guest speakers Eric Gillard, from the Bristow Group, a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel aviator and Bronze Star recipient, and Army Reserve Brigadier General Michael Dillard, commander of the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), who discussed the meaning of Veterans Day and their personal military experiences.

Trailing smoke and donning the Phillips 66 Aviation Wings logo, The Lone Star Freedom Flight Team performed a precise formation flyover. All Freedom Flight pilots are professional aviators, either former military or current and retired airline pilots.
