Galaxy FBO was once again named the #1 Small FBO Chain (3–10 locations)—marking its fourth consecutive year earning this top distinction in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. With an exceptional chain-wide score of 9.71 (up from 9.68 a year ago), Galaxy FBO continues to set the standard for excellence across its Texas based locations.

The Professional Pilot PRASE (Preferences Regarding Aviation Services and Equipment) Survey, now in its 52nd year, is one of the most trusted benchmarks in the business aviation industry. In 2026, a total of 6861 individual evaluations were submitted by qualified operators, scoring FBOs on the core elements that matter most to pilots, dispatchers, and flight departments.

Galaxy FBO’s continued presence at the top of the rankings is a testament to its relentless focus on customer service, operational excellence, and facility innovation. Whether you’re flying to Greater Houston or Dallas Metroplex – Galaxy FBO provides a seamless and elevated ground experience.

MAC Air Group, headquartered at Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Portland, Maine, has operated as a cornerstone of general aviation in the Northeast since 1959; building a reputation for safety, service, and operational excellence across six decades and three generations of the Caruso family.

This acquisition reflects Black Forest Ventures Aviation’s deliberate, disciplined approach to portfolio growth: identifying operators who have already earned the trust of their markets, and investing in their continued success. Both Galaxy FBO and MAC Air’s FBO operation share a commitment to premium service, operational reliability, and long-term relationships within the business aviation community. Each company has built its reputation around a hospitality-first culture backed by strong operational expertise, creating a seamless experience for aircraft owners, crews, and passengers alike. Strategically, the combination creates valuable geographic synergy between Galaxy’s Texas footprint and MAC Air’s presence in the Northeast, giving customers access to trusted FBO support across key domestic and transatlantic travel corridors. Together, the two operations strengthen Black Forest Ventures’ vertically integrated aviation platform that share similar values, safety standards, and family-oriented cultures.

A Purpose-Built Campus at Portland International Jetport

MAC Air Group’s presence at PWM is anchored by a modern, purpose-built facility developed from the ground up in 2016. The campus spans approximately 28,800 square feet of FBO terminal and hangar space, supported by a 12,960 square foot operations center; creating a seamless environment for passenger services and flight operations alike. A dedicated 12,000 square foot maintenance hangar and parts storage facility rounds out the footprint, giving MAC Air the capacity to support continued growth across its operations.

With this agreement, Galaxy FBO has taken over the existing city-run operations at the Big Spring / McMahon-Wrinkle Airport, including:

Galaxy FBO has already begun upgrading the existing FBO terminal, hangars, pilot office and storage facilities to align with the premium standards across its network, creating a refined home for both based tenants and transient operators. Modernization efforts are expected to be completed by June 2026 and will be carried out without disruption to ongoing flight operations. Aircraft operators seeking base hangar opportunities in the region are encouraged to contact Galaxy FBO to request a proposal and learn more about upcoming availability.

“Our expansion to McMahon-Wrinkle Airport represents more than just geographic growth; it’s an investment in the future of West Texas aviation,” said Jamie Munoz, Vice President of Sales at Galaxy FBO. “We’re excited to bring our signature hospitality, efficiency, and elevated service experience to the Big Spring aviation community.”

As demand and interest in the airport continue to rise, Galaxy FBO plans to develop new hangars on a 21-acre parcel north of the existing terminal and west of Taxiway B. The BPG Airport is home to a growing industrial park and sits at a vital crossroads in West Texas, making it an ideal location for general aviation and corporate travel. The addition of Galaxy FBO is expected to support local economic development and provide upgraded services to pilots and passengers alike.

Strategically located along major east-west and north-south flight corridors, Big Spring offers a prime position as a cross-country fuel stop for general and business aviation. McMahon-Wrinkle Airport features two runways, including Runway 18/36 at 8,803 feet in length, capable of accommodating virtually any general aviation aircraft. The airport provides a convenient and efficient refueling option without the congestion or delays of larger metro airports. Its proximity to the Permian Basin, one of the nation’s most active energy regions, also makes it an ideal base of operations for oil and gas industry flights. Just minutes from Midland – Odessa metropolitan area and within easy reach of Texas High Plains, Galaxy FBO at Big Spring delivers quick turns, competitive fuel pricing, and direct access to West Texas industry and commerce.

“Paired with Galaxy FBO’s world-renowned service and hospitality, this expansion secures Big Spring / McMahon-Wrinkle Airport (KBPG)’s place on the map as a premier base for corporate operators, a gateway to the Permian Basin, and a trusted transcontinental fuel stop for discerning flight departments across North America.” said Mike Feeley A.A.E., Airport Director for the Big Spring / McMahon-Wrinkle Airport.

Construction broke ground in April 2025 and was completed by Moon Commercial Construction. The new hangar measures 370 feet by 78 feet, offering approximately 29,000 square feet of dedicated aircraft storage space. The facility is specifically designed to accommodate a wide range of aircraft, from light jets to large-cabin business jets.

Houston continues to be one of the most dynamic markets for business aviation in the United States. The addition of Galaxy’s fourth hangar significantly increases available protected aircraft storage while providing operators with greater flexibility for both short-term and long-term hangar arrangements. The new facility also strengthens Galaxy FBO’s ability to accommodate transient aircraft during major events and periods of increased aviation traffic, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when Houston will host several international matches and attract visitors from around the world.

Together with Galaxy’s existing hangars, the expanded infrastructure allows the Houston team to support a broader range of aircraft and operational requirements while maintaining the high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service the company is known for.

Galaxy FBO’s facilities at HOU include modern passenger lounges, crew amenities, concierge services, and coordinated ground transportation, ensuring a seamless experience for pilots, passengers, and operators.

Why Choose Galaxy FBO

Plan Ahead for World Cup 2026

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place June 11 – July 19, 2026, with Houston and Dallas among the most in-demand host cities. Advance planning for aircraft parking, ground handling, and accommodations is strongly recommended.

This recognition, awarded by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), validates Galaxy’s ongoing commitment to world-class safety, service excellence, and operational integrity. The certification is effective through August 2027, marking another milestone in Galaxy’s steady advancement through IS-BAH’s rigorous multi-stage safety program.

What the IS-BAH Certification Means

The IS-BAH program is the global benchmark for safety and quality in business aviation ground-handling operations. Built on the foundation of the ICAO Safety Management System (SMS) framework, it defines best-practice standards for everything from aircraft marshaling and fueling procedures to emergency preparedness, passenger handling, and ground-support equipment maintenance.

Out of nearly 3,000 FBO locations across the U.S., only a select few meet these stringent international standards. In Texas, just six FBO brands hold active IS-BAH certifications—and Galaxy FBO is proud to be the only FBO with certified facilities at both Conroe (CXO) and Addison (ADS). At Houston Hobby (HOU), Galaxy shares this distinction with only one other provider, underscoring its leadership in aviation safety statewide.

A Culture of Continuous Improvement

Achieving Stage 2 IS-BAH certification required detailed audits across multiple operational areas, including emergency response planning, training programs, airside operations, health and safety standards, and security compliance. The auditors specifically noted Galaxy’s mature safety culture, proactive risk management practices, and comprehensive personnel training as key strengths. Galaxy’s Director of Safety & Quality Management leads an internal auditing and improvement process that ensures every team member—from line technicians to customer-service representatives, understands and applies the same elevated standards. This consistency is what gives customers confidence, whether they’re flying in for a quick tech stop, parking a large-cabin business jet, or coordinating high-profile international arrivals.

This achievement positions Galaxy FBO among the state’s elite aviation service providers, reinforcing its reputation for reliability, safety, and premium service. As the company prepares to support global events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, its IS-BAH Stage 2 status ensures that safety remains at the heart of every mission. From ramp operations to customer hospitality, Galaxy FBO continues to deliver a safe, seamless, and exceptional experience for passengers and crew alike, raising the standard not just for Texas, but for the entire business aviation industry.

The return of the astronauts Peggy Whitson (USA), Shubhanshu Shukla (India), Sławosz Uznański‑Wiśniewski (Poland), and Tibor Kapu (Hungary) marked significant national firsts and global collaboration in human spaceflight. Upon their splashdown, the astronauts were flown to Houston, touching down at Galaxy FBO to complete their mission at the Axiom Space and Johnson Space Center facilities.

Wing Aviation, which recently renewed its Supplemental Aircraft Charter Provider status for NASA, operated a Gulfstream G550 for this special trip.

As mission veterans, these private astronauts are pioneers of the commercial space era—recently, Sławosz U.‑W. made history as Poland’s first ISS astronaut, and similarly for India and Hungary. After completing their groundbreaking mission and ferry flights from California, the crew reunited with their friends and family at the Galaxy FBO’s Houston Hobby Airport facility and to begin their final steps on complete the remaining of their mission duties.

Ax‑4’s 18-day mission included 60+ science experiments and outreach events, furthering microgravity research. Galaxy anchored the end of one mission while preparing ground support for future ones. Galaxy FBO’s core services include top-tier general aviation support: executive arrivals, hangar storage, customs facilitation, and concierge ground transportation Galaxy FBO. Now, wrapped into that service is an even grander role—that of landing spacecraft crew and VIP astronauts. This raises Galaxy’s brand: serving global travelers, and now space travelers.

Astronaut Sławosz Uznański‑Wiśniewski then boarded a Polish government Boeing 737-8TV/W (BBJ2) aircraft for an eight-hour flight to Cologne, Germany where he started his post-mission readaptation at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Envihab medical facility.

At the core of Galaxy FBO’s operations is a reputation built on consistency, safety, and thoughtful luxury. But handling returning Apollo alumni and private astronauts? That’s an orbital bit of next-level service.

Consistently High Scores Across Key Categories

Aviation International News readers evaluate hundreds of aircraft handling facilities on a 1 to 5 scale in five categories: line service, passenger amenities, pilot amenities, facilities, and customer service representatives.
